Questions

Common questions

Do Canadians need a visa for the UAE?

Canadians get a visa on arrival for tourism, valid for 90 days within a 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter.

Is it safe to travel to Dubai right now?

The Government of Canada's advice for the UAE is currently "Exercise a high degree of caution." It points to regional tensions, a terrorism threat, and the possibility of drone and missile strikes in the region, and tells travellers to follow local alerts and shelter instructions. It also warns that UAE laws on drugs, alcohol and behaviour can be stricter than in Canada. Check the page for updates before you book and before you fly.

What time is Friday prayer in the UAE?

Since January 2, 2026, Friday prayer is held at 12:45 p.m. across the UAE (Sharjah keeps its own schedule). Expect mosques to be busy around that time, and the Jumeirah Mosque cultural visit does not run on Fridays.

Can visitors go inside the Jumeirah Mosque?

Yes, on a guided cultural visit at 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m., Saturday to Thursday. No booking is needed; register at the Majlis 30 minutes before. The mosque's site lists AED 55 per person, while the cultural centre's page lists AED 45, so confirm the price when you arrive. Dress modestly.
