Halal travel in Taipei: where to eat, pray and stay

Where to eat halal, where to pray and which areas to stay in, with Muslim-friendly notes on the main sights. Every fact links to its source.

Taipei is easy for Muslim travellers, even though Muslims are a small part of the population. There is a long-running Grand Mosque, a handful of well-known halal beef noodle shops, and prayer rooms at the airport and Taipei Main Station. Most visitors stay near Taipei Main Station or Ximending, close to the halal shops on Yanping South Road.

Halal status can change when a restaurant changes owner or supplier, so check the certificate at the door. We say where a place is certified and where it is only Muslim-owned or self-declared.
