Flights to Brazil from Canadian cities
Flying from Canada to Brazil
- Entry: Canadians need a Brazil eVisa, applied for online before travel.
- São Paulo is the gateway. It usually has the most flights and lowest fares; Rio is about an hour away by domestic flight.
- Avoid the peaks if you can. Christmas, New Year and Carnival are the most expensive times to fly and stay.
- Seasons are flipped. December to February is summer in Brazil; June to August is mild winter.
Entry rules change, so confirm on the Government of Canada travel advice page before you book.
Christmas, New Year and Carnival: when to book
- Book now if you haven't. For mid-December to early January, the cheapest seats usually sell first and peak fares rarely drop close to the date. Set a fare alert and book when a good price appears.
- Shift by a few days. Christmas Day and New Year's Day are both Fridays this year. Flying out midweek in early or mid-December, or coming home after the first weekend of January, is usually much cheaper than the start and end of the school break.
- Brazil's summer peak runs from Christmas through Carnival (February 6 to 10, 2027), when flights and hotels cost the most, especially in Rio.
